Concept to Reality, Innovative Alpine Gear.

Chhogori is a boutique prototyping studio based in Australia that transforms innovative alpine gear concepts into functional, field-tested solutions. We operate with a collaborative design approach that addresses the unique challenges of alpinism.

Our small-batch production philosophy prioritizes innovation and problem-solving over mass commercialization, allowing us to remain responsive to the specific needs of alpinists. This commitment to specialized, purpose-built equipment is exemplified through our ongoing partnership with Feeding the Rat Expeditions:

“Chhogori fills the space that answers ‘is this a thing?’, by making fully functioning versions of ideas. Collaborating with Chhogori shows up its roots in architectural industrial design, where everything is unique and concept driven. The process is to make unique requirements into reality – in our case bizarre interplays of things like camels, colour wavelength recognition, frozen rivers, multiple transport changes and slick timelines – with project briefings any other company would not even look at.”

As a company of climbers, we immerse ourselves in the remote regions of China and the rugged terrain of the Japanese Alps, where we rigorously test our innovations and push our equipment to its limits. We thoughtfully incorporate design inspiration and materials sourced directly from the regions where we climb. The vibrant colour palettes of Tibet influence our aesthetic choices, while Japan's pragmatic design philosophies shape our functional approach. This blend of cultural influences and practical field experience informs every aspect of our gear development process.

Besides working with fabrics, we often tackle small machining projects for all kinds of needs. Our workshop is equipped with several CNC machines, letting us work with quality aluminum to create innovative prototypes that go beyond just mountain gear. Whenever we can, we bring our machining skills and composite know-how into our alpine equipment, giving it that extra edge.
